The dispersion of carbon black

In ink, the degree of carbon black dispersion can have a great change, and the purpose of dispersion should always make carbon black in a colloidal distribution.

Dispersion degree is good or bad can affect hue directly. Blackness, oil absorption and hiding power.

The dispersion of black carbon is mainly affected by the following three reasons

A) the properties of carbon black itself

Generally speaking, carbon black with coarse particle size is easier to disperse than that with fine particle size, but its blackness is low.

The specific surface area of carbon black with fine particle size is much larger, so more dispersive energy must be applied to achieve complete and uniform dispersion.

The surface properties of carbon black have great influence on the difficulty of dispersion. The high content of surface oxidized carbon black is easily dispersed in the substrate. High volatile content of carbon black such as YOY GP31,GP61,GP62, so that ink has a lower viscosity and greater fluidity. The same quality of carbon black, good dispersion, ink is not only better, small screen residue, and blackness, coloring power, luster and fluidity will become good.
