1, Carbon black is the main pigment in black ink

Carbon black properties directly affect the quality of black ink and printing aesthetic.

Carbon black is the product of incomplete combustion or cracking of hydrocarbons.
Its main component is carbon, which is composed of quasicrystals similar to graphite,
similar to spherical colloidal particles or particles fused together.
The carbon black powder we see on a daily basis is composed of a number of aggregates bound together or
entangled together by physical forces.
Therefore, carbon black properties are still affecting ink blackness and color factors.

2. The structure of blackness

The color of carbon black is not only related to the size and hue of particles,
but also to the surface structure of particles.

The smaller the particle size of carbon black, the higher the blackness.

The larger the particle size, the lower the blackness.

And affect other performance, such as oil absorption value, dispersion, etc.

Add the same amount of carbon black in the ink, the effect is not the same,
the finer particles of carbon black will make the ink viscosity

The carbon black intersection of the thicker particles prevents the ink from flowing,

To get a moderate amount of black carbon requires more energy to disperse the black carbon sufficiently.

The relationship between the structure, viscosity, and dispersion of carbon black also affects the gloss,
fluidity, and hue of the final product.

High-structure groove carbon black such as GP-A, GP-B,GP11,GP31,GP61,GP62 of YOY and low-structure furnace carbon black such as 680PF of YOY. Both types of carbon black are oxidized and non-oxidized. In general, oxidized carbon black improves its dispersity, while unoxidized carbon black is much less dispersed. However, low structure furnace carbon black such as YOY 680PF, suitable for the substrate content is particularly low, good mobility and highlights.
